   MEDIEVAL MONUMENTS OF THE LOWER VOLGA REGION:
PRELIMINARY RESULTS OF THE EXPEDITION

Abstract. From September 9 to 14, 2024, employees of the the Usmanov Center for Research on the Golden Horde and Tatar Khanates of the Marjani Institute of History of the Tatarstan Academy of Sciences carried out an expedition to the Lower Volga Region. The purpose of the expedition was to study the state of the Golden Horde historical and archaeological sites and hold round tables with local specialists, establish close contacts with scientific institutions of this region. The route of the trip was planned in advance and agreed upon with local scientists. The expedition participants visited Saratov, Volgograd and Astrakhan, where they held scientific and practical seminars, visited local museums and various archaeological sites. They also met with representatives of the Tatar community of the Volga Region. Problems and issues related to the study of the Golden Horde heri­tage in these regions, as well as prospects for joint projects, were discussed.
