Abstract. Research objectives: To conduct a comparative analysis of three medieval Arabic-language chronicles in order to reflect Mamluk-Mongolian connections in them and to identify similarities and differences in the presentation and characterization of events.
Research materials: Medieval Arabic chronicles “Ar-raud al-zahir fi sirat al-Malik al-Zahir” by Muhyi ad-din ibn Abd al-Zahir (1223–1293), “Zubdat al-fikra fi tarih al-hijra” by Emir Rukn al-Din Baybars al-Mansuri ad Dauadar (1247–1325), and “Al-mukhtasar fi ahbar al-bashar” by Abu al-Fida (1273–1331).
Results and scientific novelty of the research: The scientific novelty of the study is determined by the fact that since there are currently no complete translations of the works in question in CIS languages, by referring to the Arabic original for the first time, a comparative analysis is carried out the events that took place between the Islamic world and the Mongols. When analyzing these works, it is possible to reveal their significant similarity in terms of the structure of information, linguistic features, and stylistic features. At the same time, there are certain differences in the interpretation of events, the transfer of Turkic and Mongolian names of people, and toponyms, which, in our opinion, can be associated, among other things, with the ethnic and ideological affiliation of the authors, as well as the degree of their involvement and chronological proximity or remoteness regarding the events described.
Keywords: Mamluks, Mongols, Tatars, «Zubdat al-fikra fi tarih al-hijra», «al-Muhtasar fi akhbar al-bashar», «Ar-raud az-zahir fi sirat al-Maliq az-Zahir»
